At the Healing Garden I offer complementary and alternative healing therapies including Therapeutic Touch, Touch for Health, Stress Indicator Point System (SIPS) , Soul Retrieval and journey work. I use a combination of these techniques to assist your healing journey. Therapeutic Touch is effective in promoting relaxation. It decreases stress, anxiety, pain and accelerates healing. As a recognized complimentary therapy it can be used in conjunction with standard medical care. Therapeutic Touch is a safe, non-invasive healing practice that was developed in the early 1970’s by Dolores Krieger, a professor of nursing and Dora Kunz, an intuitive healer. Touch for Health is designed to release pain and stress. Muscle testing feedback techniques are used to discern the sources of stress which lead to chronic pain, mental clouding and various stages of disease. The techniques used may include the use of acupressure points, working with muscle tissue or a variety of other corrections. Touch For Health came from the work of two chiropractors in the 1960’s. Dr. George Goodheart and Dr. John Thie began using muscle tests as a way of assessing meridian energy from Chinese therapies such as acupuncture. Touch For Health is a powerful healing method that helps to identify not only the sources of stress affecting the body but also how to correct the imbalance created by it. SIPS . Stress Indicator Point System uses a combination of muscle testing and acupressure points. SIPS can be effective for pain relief, improving cognitive function and assist in balancing hormones and emotions. Ian Stubbings developed the SIPS system in 1992. SIPS uses acupressure points to locate where the body is experiencing stress. It identifies the type of stress involved that is impeding healing and releases the stress so that the healing can occur. Soul Retrieval is done with journey work. Contact for more information.

Susan is also a renowned Canadian poet,  published in every Canadian literary magazine, on CBC radio and in the Poetry in Transit program. Her work is available in most book stores, on the internet, or directly from the publisher. One title, My Mother Agrees with the Dead, is a collection of poems expressing the grief of a daughter watching her mother’s journey with cancer, a book making public the silence often found in grief. When not writing, Susan participates in national and international literary festivals and mentors youth writers. She is one of the founding editors of The Claremont Review, a literary magazine for teen writers, voted Write Magazine’s magazine of the year. She teaches English and creative writing to teens and adults in British Columbia and Saskatchewan. She has also taught at the United World College in Mbabne, Swaziland. She has used BodyTalk to assist the creative process. Clients (actors, dancers, teachers, writers, mothers, professors and lawyers) use BodyTalk to perform at their highest levels. Often what blocks the imagination are socialized habits caught in the subconscious mind. Bringing these blocks to light releases unnatural inhibitions so the work flows with ease. Know That BodyTalk:Is completely non-invasiveWorks with all other therapiesDoes not diagnosisDoes not prescribeOffers affordable, long-lasting healthcareAustralian Chiropractor and Acupuncturist, Dr. John Veltheim, developed the BodyTalk System in 1995. Since then it has been taught to over a thousand practitioners worldwide. Currently there are 47 trained BodyTalk instructors teaching in 25 countries. Graduates include medical doctors and specialists, psychologists, psychotherapists, chiropractors, acupuncturists, naturopaths, physical therapists, osteopaths, nurses, licensed massage therapists, and laypeople.Balancing the Brain (The Cortices Technique)The outstanding growth and success of the BodyTalk system is essentially fuelled by the following factors:1. Outstanding results occur in almost every sphere of heath care: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.2. It can be used as a stand-alone health care or  be seamlessly integrated into any other health care modality and is complementary to each modality.3. It is totally non-invasive and absolutely safe. There are no contraindications to its use.4. No diagnosis is given, no medications prescribed, and no invasive techniques imposed upon the patient. The BodyTalk System does not conflict with, or legally contravene, any existing health care system or law.5. The basic premises underlying The BodyTalk System constitutes a new paradigm for synchronizing and balancing the body-mind that can be implemented in conjunction with any health care system. The body is a very complex ecosystem involving a delicate balance between physiological biochemical functions, emotional and mental interactions, environmental influences, hereditary and genetic restrictions, and the need to synchronize all these factors into a cohesive whole..

About Acupuncture I practice a lineage of Japanese acupuncture taught by Kiiko Matsumoto, that was passed down to her from Master Kiyoshi Nagano. This style of acupuncture emphasizes abdominal, neck and meridian palpation, to asses the state of the nervous system and internal organs. The gauge of needle and depth of insertion is generally smaller and shallower to provide a gentle and pain free experience. There is also an emphasis on moxibustion, which is the soothing practice of burning of an herb on the surface of the skin, to further illicit a parasympathetic response in the nervous system. The goal of every treatment is to balance the autonomic nervous system and ensure the bodies natural healing processes are functioning optimally. To reduce inflammation, pain and modulate immune responses. I also utilize infra-red heat therapy, which penetrates deep into fascia and tissue, to bring regenerative blood and circulation to areas of discomfort. About Me Coming from a background in social justice work, I have a passion for building accessible care in communities. Prior to becoming a licensed acupuncturist I spent many formative years working in mental health and outreach with local women’s resources and marginalized youth in-care. It has been this community work that informs the lens of healing justice from which I view health. That our personal wellness is linked to systemic oppression, disconnection from the land and from each other. And that all of these factors influence our nervous systems resiliency to stress and dis-ease. I have been practicing acupuncture since 2012 and opened my licensed private practice 2017. In addition to receiving my Diploma of Acupuncture and registering with the CTCMA, I have trained in the teaching hospitals at Liaoning University of TCM in Shenyang, China and completed 5 years of private clinical mentorship. My ongoing education focusses on Japanese KMS lineage acupuncture and somatic trauma integration. My work is informed by emerging neuroscience, trauma theory, cultural somatics, decolonial values, plant spirit medicine and my many beautiful mentors and teachers who have enriched both my personal and professional life.
